Leadership. Fresh Perspective. Commitment. A resident of Ann Arbor, Mr. Vernuccio is committed to Michigan's vitality. Born and raised in the Reagan era of fiscal conservatism, small government, and commitment to a strong national defense, Mr. Vernuccio is dedicated to renewing these fundamental values. He seeks to revitalize Michigan's approach to these values and help the state reach its potential in the 21st century.

Mr. Vernuccio is a representative for the Lexis/Nexis Corporation and a second year student at the Ave Maria School of Law. He recently completed a term as an assistant policy researcher and analyst for the Senate Majority Policy Office in Lansing. A graduate of Oneonta College, Mr. Vernuccio holds a degree in Political Science and brings to the table a diverse array of experiences. As a clerk for Criminal Court Judge John Wilson, Mr. Vernuccio became even more conscious of crime in America and reaffirmed his awareness that hard work and strong law enforcement is the surest way to curtail crime.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Vernuccio worked for the law firm of Herzog, Engstrom, and Koplovitz, P.C., and served as a volunteer firefighter at the Westmere Fire Department in Albany, New York, balancing his time between work and responding to fire calls at all hours of the night. While in college and serving as a student leader, Mr. Vernuccio was instrumental in preserving in its pristine state 284 acres of woodland, which is now available for educational, social, and recreational opportunities, and ecological studies.

While this is Mr. Vernuccio's first congressional race, he has already been recognized as a young leader in governmental affairs, serving as Chair of a regional branch of Democracy Matters, an organization fighting for fair elections. As the Chair of the Ave Maria Republican National Lawyers Association, he has organized volunteers to assist with ensuring election law compliance at the polls and fought to eradicate election fraud. He has also led volunteers campaigning for gubernatorial candidate Dick DeVos and several Republican U.S. Senate Candidates. Through his efforts, the RNLA ranks have grown to over 160 members.

Much of Mr. Vernuccio's commitment to volunteerism, and his patriotism, came from the values he learned at home. His mother, Robin, is an elementary school teacher. His father, Frank, serves as the District Administrator of the Workers' Compensation Board for Manhattan and The Bronx. These parents instilled in him an extraordinary love for America, and a firm commitment to the beliefs that have made our nation a beacon of freedom for all the world. Mr. Vernuccio grew up as an altar boy, Eucharistic Minister, lector and Boy Scout. In his spare time, he is an avid outdoorsman, savoring Michigan's vast wilderness.
